For emacs, I've used multi-mode to edit mixed Python/HTML or whatnot.
You can tell it to use HTML as the major mode for PSP files, for
example, and look for start and end markers for the embedded Python as a
submode.

| doesn't do anything special for PSP, just treats it like HTML, but I
| consider that a feature because it discourages you from putting too much
