Better is a relative term.

I personally don't care for using web interfaces for stuff.  Not my
cup of tea.  Email has been a wonderful medium for a very long time,
and serves its purpose for mailing lists very well.  If you don't
like it, hook your email account up to a web-based email reader like
Google's.  Then you'll feel right at home.  :)
