[mod_python] Publisher and Digest Authentication?

I always got a '400 Bad Request' error when using Publisher with
AuthType Digest. When searching the web, I found:

A 2002 post talking about publisher only work on basic authentication.
And from the code in publisher, it is still not fixed. Please fix it.

Does this mean that no one is using mod_python with authentication other than
Basic type?
