Nicolas, Thank you very much! Highly appreciated. I ran the AB tool and the results were identical to yours. So my configuration definitely handles requests concurrently. Confused, however, I opened two Firefox instances again and let them access the script concurrently, with the exact same results I got previously - the second request is processed *after* the first one finishes. I replaced Firefox with IE then, and the results were the same as with the AB tool - the requests were handled concurrently. So I have come to believe that Firefox (1.0.7) itself delays the second request to the server, for whatever reason.
