[mod_python] mod_python 2.7.10 hangs apache sometimes

After installing mod_python, apache has started hanging sometimes
(likely during high loads).  Any help?

Mod_python 2.7.10 was compiled from source as DSO; Apache 1.3.26
is from Debian woody; Python 2.3 was compiled from source.
