[mod_python] Issues compiling mod_python 3.3.1

All,

I'm trying to compile mod_python 3.3.1 on Solaris 8 using the apache
2.2.4 with gcc 3.4.6 from SunFreeware.com.  Configure succeeds but I
get the following error durring make:

ld: fatal: relocations remain against allocatable but non-writable sections
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
apxs:Error: Command failed with rc=65536
.
make[1]: *** [mod_python.so] Error 1
make: *** [do_dso] Error 2

Any ideas?

Here's my python:

Python 2.5.1 (r251:54863, May 16 2007, 20:12:18)
[GCC 3.4.6] on sunos5


Any help would be greatly appreciated.
